Form and Style

I took into account the common styles of promo videos by watching numerous current promo video recently produced for upcoming mixed martial arts events and clubs. While watching the videos back and forward I have noticed vast majority follow the same style. In MMA club Promo videos there are numerous shots used from different angles and distances. the shots are no longer than 5 seconds and fast cutting is used to cut on to action. Special effects are added to both MMA club and upcoming events to add more of an engaging appearance. After effects where used carefully when titles are shown on screen. I have noticed sound is plays a big part of the video as the sound has to match with the visuals. For example in some promo videos when theirs a slight change of sound in the sound track there is a sudden change in the visuals. A sound of a drum can be played every ten second, during this sound different titles can appear on screen. Editor of these promo video use creative text motions for. For example rather than the text appearing in crawling or rolling style. Instead the text will used with after effects. During the editing process I will select an appropriate soundtrack for my Promo video for Kickstop and analyse what shots of my footage would match the audio. Because MMA is an intense sport editors of the Promo videos often use slow motion effects when cutting onto hard hitting action. In this video, after effects are used in the titles. I like the effect used here as theirs a backround title with low opacity giving more of a 3-D look.

Here an effect is used where flashing light is displayed every few second on a high impact action shot.

Fast blur effect is used often in allot of the shots. In my opinion I think the editor has over used these effects as shots are hard to focus since shots are only few seconds long each.
