Homework 7 2
While reviewing the first set of frequencies I came to the realization that there is very little
association with SEX and the CHLD2 variables. The table just shows me that in both genders 2
or less children is favored more than any other number in the chart. The association is not very
strong because there is just little information on the chart. When the control variable of
DEGREE is entered into the equation our results begin to vary. DEGREE is the amount of
schooling that the respondent received. In the charts the results showed that the respondents with
a higher education favored 2 or less children more heavily. At the high school level the
individuals were about equal with the amount that wanted 2 or less and 3+ but as the education
increased the results changed. Over two-thirds of respondents in graduate school favored less
children. The results may be due to the amount of work an individual has to do so they do not
have time to take care of children or the results may be due to the maturity level that one
develops when they step into the “real world” and learn their responsibilities.
