Postdoctoral Fellow (1 position)
(Two-year Contract)
The WITS node of the South African National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP)/high energy group at the Centre for Theoretical Physics, has one postdoctoral vacancy in the fields of hep-ph, hep-th. The group comprises Alan Cornell, Robert de Mello Koch, Kevin Goldstein, Vishnu Jejjala and Joao Rodrigues in addition to six current post-docs and several postgraduate students. The school of physics also has members involved in the ATLAS experiment, comprising Bruce Mellado, Trevor Vickey and Oana Boeriu along with an SKA astrophysics group. The position is available from July 2013, where theorists who overlap with these areas are encouraged to apply. The appointment will be made within the structure of the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and is subject to approval by the appropriate funding agencies and is limited to two years. We can apply for additional funding to extend the term of the fellowship, but this is not guaranteed. A post-doc can expect a reasonable stipend for research related travel in addition to airfare to Johannesburg on starting.

Duties: Maintaining a vigorous research programme being involved with supervision and tutoring at graduate level. Requirements: A relevant doctorate of high standing a developing research record and demonstrated research potential. PhD must have been obtained within the past five years and have shown evidence of accomplishment and independence in their research in particle phenomenology or a related field. Commencement of duties: 1 July 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. Closing date: Review of applications will begin on 20 May 2013 and continue until the fellowship has been awarded.
