PART 2 Taj Anderson 1. What is ewaste?

? Ewaste is a term given to electrical equipment nearing the end of their useful life. 2. List 10 items that would be included as ewaste. Televisions Computers Stereos Microwaves iPod Laptops Phones iPads Coffee Machines Vacuum Cleaners

3. What are CO2 emmissions? How do they effect the environment? CO2 also referred to as Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas emitted through human activities such as mining and transportation. Carbon Dioxide is already a natural part of our atmosphere, however due to increased human activities that began within the industrial revolution, the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere has increased. Carbon dioxide is a substance needed to produce the greenhouse effect, a process in which heat produced by UV rays is trapped in an area blanketed by the Carbon Dioxide. The increased amount of Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere means that the greenhouse effect is more severe then it previously was, meaning that more UV rays and heat is being trapped in our atmosphere which can lead to global warming if no solution is made. 4. What are the Standards for ewaste disposal in Australia? 5. Complete the following: Single flush toilets saves an average household over 60 000 litres of water a year and over $100 in water bills. Recycled paper saves many trees from being cut down, in america, if every american recycled the Sunday newspaper they would have saved over 25 million trees a year. Using paper clips instead of staples saves The environment from powerful greenhouse gasses such as perfluorcarbons. During the production of staples, a powerful substance is needed that releases these dangerous greenhouse emissions that stay permanently within the atmosphere. Paperclips are more efficient as they are fully reusable therefore less paperclip production is needed. Switching off computers overnight saves over $90 if you do so every night for one year.
