MEMORANDUM Date: To: From: RE 8 May 2013 Melodee Lambert Tannya Stauffer SIGNATURE ASSIGNMENT PROPOSAL REFLECTION MEMO

HOW DOES YOUR PROPOSAL REFLECT YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOLLOWING FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE S OF BUSINESS WRITING: PURPOSE AND AUDIENCE DETERMINE CONTENT, FORMAT, STYLE, AND TONE. o Purpose and Audience Determine Content: My proposal was written for my Business Communication 2200 class. It proposed a project for a group from my class to work on together. The content was based on the project being planned and the feasibility for class members to complete the project with me. o Format: My proposal was written in memo format. This was required for the class, as a memo is a professional way to present ideas. o Style and Tone: The style and tone were professional. This is a document meant to be designed the same way a proposal would be written in a professional workplace. Nothing about this document was casual, it lists the need for the project, background on the center the project would serve, as well as the plan for carrying out the project. WHAT CONNECTIONS DO YOU SEE BETWEEN YOUR PROPOSAL AND ANY OF YOUR OTHER CLASSES? The proposal project gave me a new understanding of presenting an idea. This gave me the opportunity to present an idea of mine in a professional format, that I will be able to use in future classes. Although classes I use in the future may not require a memo format, I will now be able to present ideas in a professional and persuasive manner.

WHAT CONNECTIONS DO YOU SEE BETWEEN YOUR PROPOSAL AND YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF YOUR CLASSWORK? Volunteer work has always been of interest for me, this project gave me an idea for a volunteer project I can do on my own time.
