We are learning to: Estimate how much a container will hold (volume) Measure the volume of a container

First we estimated how many spoons it would take to fill our cup. Then we counted how many spoons of popcorn fitted into our cup. We found that everyone had a different number! It ranged from 47 to 63.

We estimated how many cups of popcorn it would make when cooked and which bowl it would fit into - An ice cream container - A larger ice cream container - A large bowl Then we put one cup of popcorn into the pan and measured how long it took to start popping. It took 45 seconds.

It took 14 minutes to stop popping.

We counted the cups of popcorn. It filled the large ice cream container.

It made 18 cups of popcorn!

We made up number stories for 18 using the cups of popcorn. Here are some of them -
