Students will be able to create a Childrens book that is based on elements of a text.

State Standards Addressed: Grade 6: 2.1 Write narratives: a. Establish and develop a plot and setting and present a point of view that is appropriate to the stories. b. Include sensory details and concrete language to develop plot and character. c. Use a range of narrative devices (e.g., dialogue, suspense).
Grade 7: 2.1 Write fictional or autobiographical narratives: a. Develop a standard plot line (having a beginning, conflict, rising action, climax, and denouement) and point of view. b. Develop complex major and minor characters and a definite setting. C. Use a range of appropriate strategies (e.g., dialogue; suspense; naming of specific narrative action, including movement, gestures, and expressions). Grade 8: 2.1Write biographies, autobiographies, short stories, or narratives: a. Relate a clear, coherent incident, event, or situation by using well-chosen details. b. Reveal the significance of, or the writers attitude about, the subject. c. Employ narrative and descriptive strategies (e.g., relevant dialogue, specific action, physical description, background description, comparison or contrast of characters).

Summary: Students Must Include the Following Features in their Childrens Book:
All of the story elements: Characters: the people or characters that are in the story: make a list of all of the different types of characters you can have: people, animals, cartoons, stick figures, aliens, etc... students can make a list of this. Setting: where the story takes place, the time and scene of the story. Problem: what is going wrong in the book? What is the big issue that the character is facing? Solution: what is fixing the problem?
