Sample paragraph of an APA Results section for a significant chi-square test: Results A 2 (voluntary rehab. vs. involuntary rehab.) x 2 (relapse vs. no relapse) chi-square test of independence indicated that individuals who voluntarily went through a drug rehabilitation program were significantly less likely to experience a drug use relapse than those who were involuntarily placed in a drug rehabilitation program, 2 (1, n = 100) = 16.66, p < .01. Of those who voluntarily went through the drug rehabilitation program, 10 experienced a drug relapse and 40 did not. Of those who involuntarily went through the drug rehabilitation program, 30 experienced a relapse and 20 did not.

A 2 (rehab. vs. no-rehab) x 2 (relapse vs. no relapse) chi-square test of independence indicated no significant relationship between the variables. Individuals who voluntarily placed themselves in a drug rehabilitation program were just as likely to experience a relapse as individuals who were placed in the program involuntarily, 2 (1, n = 100) = .17, p > .05. Of those who voluntarily went through the drug rehabilitation program, 22 experienced a drug relapse and 28 did not. Of those who involuntarily went through the drug rehabilitation program, 24 experienced a relapse and 26 did not.
