    The steps for naming the straight chain alkenes are


    Count the amount of C atoms. If the C atom of alkenes is more than three, put number if every C atom thus the smallest number is placed exactly at the double bond position. The naming is started by number of C atom at double bonding, followed by mark (-) and main chain name.
