TELECOMMAND AND TELEMETRY

PROJECT DOMAIN : EMBEDDED SYSTEM AND COMMUNICATION. CONTENT: The On-board computer (OBC) is the brain to a satellite. The primary role of the OBC is the control all subsystems of the satellite. It collects information from different subsystems of the satellite, analyzes the information, and takes necessary and appropriate decisions as and when required. The on board computer has to perform several different tasks. The most important are: Attitude determination and Control System(ADCS) Telemetry Tele command Payload. Thermal system.

A Telecommand is a command sent to control a remote system or systems (satellite) not directly connected to the place from which the telecommand is sent. For a telecommand to be effective, it must be compiled into a pre-arranged format, modulated onto a carrier wave which is then transmitted with adequate power to the remote system. The remote system will then demodulate the digital signal from the carrier ,decode the telecommand and execute it.Telemetry is the process by which an objects characteristics are measured and the results transmitted to a distant station where they are displayed, recorded, and analyzed. The transmission media may be air and space for satellite applications.

The aim of this project is designing and verification of telemetry and telecommand by taking the commands from the ground station as well as the real time data. The commands are executed as per the requirements of the pisat and the telemetry data collected is sent to the ground station.
