Are manual handling activities reduced to a minimum and mechanical aids used wherever possible? Do employees attempting to lift a load make an assessment of the load dynamic i.e. centre of gravity, approximate weight? Where manual handling cannot be avoided, are loads being lifted less than 25Kg in weight? Do employees involved in manual handling activities lift the load correctly keeping back straight and lifting with legs? Do employees carrying loads hold the load correctly i.e. close to body, minimising twisting of body etc. Do employees involved with manual handling activities wear gloves as appropriate? Are loads being carried in such a way to ensure vision of the employee is not obstructed? Is employee wearing sturdy safety boots with steel toe caps when carrying loads?
