PRO/PIPING INTRODUCTION Optional module

Available in assembly mode only

Go to Application/Piping Rigid/Flexible pipes Parameter associativity.

DIFFERENT TERMINOLOGIES Pipeline: An assembly feature consisting of line segments that represent the centerline of the pipe. Pipeline parameters: Parameters that define information such as fluid type, flow direction, pressure, etc.

Fitting: A part that you assemble at the location where a pipe joins another pipe, is terminated, or is clamped.
Line stock: A list of parameters that define the size and shape of the material used to create a pipe.

- FITTINGS

FITTINGS

ADDING FITTINGS TYPES OF FITTINGS FITTINGS AND COMPONENTS

ADDING FITTINGS
A fitting is an assembly component, typically a part, that you add to the piping system to perform a specific function. Essentiality of Entry Ports and Datum Points for assembling Pro/LIBRARY_ACCESS license Fittings in a piping system can be placed using piping functionality, or conventional assembly techniques

TYPES OF FITTINGS
There are three types of Fittings:
CORNER FITTINGS END FITTINGS INTERNAL, or STRAIGHT FITTINGS

FITTINGS PLACEMENT TECHNIQUES

Allow the system to orient it along the pipeline Insert it at a pipe end (End Fittings) Insert it at a corner of a pipeline (Corner Fittings) Insert it at a selected point and break the pipe at the entry ports (Straight break Fittings)

MANIPULATING FITTINGS AFTER PLACEMENT

Delete it from a pipeline Change its orientation Flip its ends 180 degrees Twist it along the positive z-axis, and specify a value for rotation Align the x-axis of an entry port with a selected edge Align the y-axis of an entry port with a selected edge Replace one fitting with another one

FITTINGS AND COMPONENTS

Line Assemblies A line assembly is an inseparable piping assembly that is designed, ordered and tracked by the customer as a single unit. Note: All pipelines should be routed within a line assembly

PIPING COMPONENTS
All piping components should be assembled into the piping assembly. The best way to locate piping components is to define datum geometry in the piping skeleton and mate the components to the skeleton.

EXTRACTING A MODEL
An extracted model is a combination of different fittings and pipes that is documented as a single entity. The extracted model has a .prt extension, but only one feature (a merge), regardless of the number of components it references. After you select parts to include in the extract model, you can create a drawing of it.

MODULE SUMMARY
A fitting library is a family table. Fitting parts require entry ports and typically a datum point, in order to be considered fittings. Fittings can be placed with conventional assembly techniques or the special insert fittings. Using insert fittings gives you the ability to replace, flip and twist fittings. An extract model is merge of fittings and solid pipes.

Piping Information and Drawings

PIPING INFORMATION & DRAWINGS

Generating Piping bend location information

Generating Piping machine location information

Using Pro/REPORT functionality in a table format to retrieve Bill of Materials information into a drawing

OBTAINING ENGINEERING INFORMATION

Using the Info option in the PIPING menu, various types of information can be generated about a piping assembly in the following ways :

Obtain the length of a selected pipeline, segment, or line stock

Create bend machine and bend location tables Generate a Bill of Materials For a selected pipeline, obtain the name of the working assembly, pipeline, and current line stock For a selected pipeline, obtain the name of the working assembly, pipeline, and current line stock, as well as the material, diameter, length, and wall thickness of the pipe Check for line stock parameter violations

CREATING PIPE DRAWINGS

Drawings can be created for: The entire assembly including pipelines The solid pipes themselves Extract models of pipelines and fittings Various Pro/REPORT tables with engineering information

CHECKING FOR VIOLATIONS

To identify the violations that have been imposed upon existing pipes, you can perform a Check Pipe using parameters entered into the LINESTOCK dialog box.
