definition
Hurricane is a storm system characterized by a low-pressure center surrounded by a spiral arrangement of thunderstorm that produce strong winds and heavy rain.

Disaster phase
strong winds can damage or destroy vehicles, buildings, bridges, and other outside objects, turning loose debris into deadly flying projectiles.

Response phase
Over the past two centuries, tropical cyclones have been responsible for : the deaths of about 1.9 million people worldwide. Large areas of standing water caused by flooding lead to infection, as well as contributing to mosquito-borne illnesses. Crowded evacuees in shelters increase the risk of disease propagation. Tropical cyclones significantly interrupt infrastructure, leading to power outages, bridge destruction, and the hampering of reconstruction efforts.

Recovery phase
The victims not only loss their things but also their family and healths, so in this phase medical support have an important role to recover the victims especially their trauma.

Risk reduction phase


People begin to rebuild stronger houses, bridges or another buildings that give away less easily to hurricane

Preparedness phase
Return home only after authorities advise it is safe to do so . Keep tuned to your local radio and TV stations for recovery information. Beware of downed or loose power lines . Report them immediately to the Power Company, police or fire department. Drive only if absolutely necessary. Avoid flooded roads and washed-out bridges. Enter your home with caution. Beware of snakes, insects and other animals driven to higher ground by floodwater. Open windows and doors to ventilate and dry your home. Do not use candles or open flames indoors. Use a flashlight to inspect for damage. Check refrigerated foods for spoilage. Use telephone only for emergency call
