Minecraft High School Letter To Parents PDF
Dear Parents and Upper School Students, Is your child (or even you!) a person who loves to build, invent, develop, explore, gather resources, or craft in an infinite world where imagination is our only limit? Then your child will be interested in joining the Brent community in playing Minecraft this summer. The Upper School Executive Student Council will be holding an Online Summer Minecraft Competition for Bian Charity starting June 1, 2013, and ending July 20, 2013. It will cost Php 200 per team and each team can be one to four people. All proceeds go into the annual Bian Christmas Charity where last year, we raised Php 400,000 to give 800 families a nice Christmas. This Online Summer Minecraft Competition will include all of the Brent Community (Grades K 12 and any adults that are interested). All instructions and competitions can be found at http://www.facebook.com/brentminecraft. If you are interested you, can bring your registration fee to Mr Yap in S407 before May 29, 2013 or go to the Facebook page for instructions for late registrations. If you are new to the Minecraft world, it is a video game with many educational benefits. It can help your child in reading, math, geometry, music, social skills, and basic computer science (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_in_education). Also, playing minecraft (together with other Brent students over the summer), it will help them experience a little of what it would be like on an engineering or architectural team while they compete towards a goal or a prize. In order for your child to participate in this Online Summer Minecraft Competition, you will need to have already purchased the PC/MAC/FULL version of Minecraft. Students that play on the Ipad/Iphone/Android/Alpha and free LITE versions will not be able to participate. We hope that you would allow your child to participate and that you take an active role in playing with them or engaging them on the things that they enjoy. Since Minecraft is a very intensive game (that students could play for hours), we encourage you to have conversations with your child about maintaining a balance in their lives. Ask your child and help them to decide how much time playing minecraft is healthy. A recommended amount of time would be a maximum of 2 hours at a time and no more 10 to 15 hours a week. In regards to our online presence, our minecraft design team will be monitoring the student activities and chat logs. There will be no foul language, verbal bullying, or griefing (a term that means disruption or destruction of others property) allowed. Anyone found violating these rules will be given Strike One (a warning) and will be blocked from the Minecraft servers for a period of 3 days. If they are found committing any further offenses, they will be blocked from the servers during the entire summer.
