Lesson Plan

Teacher: Perva Andreea School: Grupul Scolar Sanitar Classes: 11th grade Date: 17th of April 2008 Textbook : Prospects Advanced Lesson Topic: Stress Time: 50 min Anticipated problems: Ss. may be reluctant to speak Lesson aims: to listen a new English text; to answer questions based on a text; to improve their speaking skills Materials: textbooks Methods: conversation, explanation, example, group work, commentary Activity 1 : Warm-up Aim : to introduce the topic Procedure : Ss. are asked the following question : What do you find stressful ? and the Ss. take turns to answer Interaction : T.-Ss. Timing : 5 Activity 2 : Reading Aim : to look for specific information Procedure : Ss. are asked to read the soundbites and decide whether they are told by boys or girls Interaction : T.-Ss. Timing : 5 Activity 3 : Listening Aim : to listen for specific information Procedure : Ss. are asked to listen carefully and find out whether their guesses were right or wrong. During the listening, ss. will also hear some extra information which is not mentioned in the book. They will be asked ta pay special atention to those parts which contain a series of multi-part verbs with out. T. checks understanding of these verbs and, if necessary, explains the meaning. Furthermore, T. asks ss. to make sentences of their own with each of the verbs. Interaction : T.-Ss. Timing : 15 Activity 4 : Discussion and debate Aim : to improve their speaking skills

Procedure : Ss. work in small groups and are asked to compose a questionnaire entitled : Are you stressed ?, which should contain at least 5 questions designed to find out why Ss. feel stressed. Each member of the group should ask different people in the class to reply to the questionnaire. In the end, Ss. should present their findings to the whole class. Interaction : group-work Timing : 20 Activity 5 : Assigning the homework Procedure : Ss. are asked to write down some tips to beat stress in everyday life. Interaction : T.-Ss. Timing : 5
