The energy we use every day comes from various resources. These resources are divided into two groups. 1. Renewable energy 2. Non-renewable energy.

Renewable Energy
Renewable energy can be replenised when used up. Example of renewable energy resources: 1. Solar 2. Wind 3. Biomass 4. Water

Solar Power
Solar power converts the energy of the sun into electricity.

Wind Power
Moving air can be used to turn propellers.

Water (hydroelectric power)

The higher the drop and the greater the drop, the more energy can be created.

Biomass
Energy from organic materials

Non-Renewable Energy
Non-renewable energy cannot be replenised when used up. Example of non-renewable energy resources: 1. Natural gas 2. Coal 3. Charcoal 4. Petroleum 5. Nuclear reactor V

Fossil Fuels

Fossil Fuels
Coal, oil and gas are called "fossil fuels" because they have been formed from the organic remains of prehistoric plants and animals.
Natural Gas

Coal

Petroleum

Nuclear Reactor
Energy from splitting Uranium atoms
