Attitude; Appreciation

noun 1 the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something gratitude for something : they would be the first to show their appreciation. sensitive understanding of the aesthetic value of something : courses in music appreciation. 2 a full understanding of a situation : they have an appreciation of the needs of users | the bank's lack of appreciation of their problems.

Area 1; We recently celebrated Mothers Day (12/5) and put the attitude of Appreciation into practice. We also celebrate Fathers Day in September. Think about the other ways in which we show appreciation of something or someone. Use the definitions above to brainstorm some of these ways. (This is a good activity to discuss with a parent or other family member- what are their thoughts on Appreciation?)

Area 2; Think about the current Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry and discuss how your learning relates to these Appreciation quotes and sayings. Write your interpretation of one or more of them.

You dont know what youve got until its gone. Dont take things for granted. Take time to stop and smell the roses. Just because it isnt perfect, doesnt mean it isnt awesome. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
