IB PYP Exploration- Week 1 Term 2 Learner Profile Attitude; Tolerance

Tolerance; the ability or willingness to tolerate the existence of opinions or behaviour that one dislikes or disagrees with.

As well as the 10 attributes of the Learner Profile, there are 12 attitudes which IB learners need to demonstrate in action.
Area 1; Identify a person that others will know who has demonstrated the attitude of tolerance. Summarise the persons tolerance for your classwhat caused them to show tolerance? What happened as a result of this tolerance? If you are unsure of a well-known person who has demonstrated tolerance, use Kate Sheppard or Martin Luther King as your subject and research their life to give you some ideas. Perhaps you could connect your learning to your current unit and consider someone connected to the environment. Area 2; Consider a time in your life when you have demonstrated tolerance towards someone or something. Reflect on your feelings during the event- before, during and afterwards. Why do you think tolerance is such an important attitude? Area 3; Think about the behaviours of a tolerant person. Compare them to someone without the attitude of tolerance. Develop a list of actions, behaviours, emotions and feelings of the 2 people. The person without tolerance; Actions... , Behaviours... Actions... , Behaviours... The person with tolerance;
