Everglades Foundation Statement on Governor Rick Scott Signing Everglades Preservation & Conservation Legislation into Law
West Palm Beach, Fla. The Everglades Foundation today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Eric Eikenberg, in regards to Governor Rick Scott signing House Bill 7065, relating to Everglades preservation and conservation, into law. Eikenberg was present during the bill signing this morning in West Palm Beach. We thank Governor Rick Scott for signing House Bill 7065 into law today, which protects the 1993 Statement of Principles that has guided Floridas restoration efforts for two decades and provides funding for construction projects to ensure water quality standards in the Everglades are finally achieved. These projects will bring needed jobs to Florida and when completed will treat polluted water before it further destroys Americas Everglades. We encourage Governor Scott to continue his Everglades leadership by making a strong commitment that the state will do its part to complete the vital Central Everglades Planning Project and ensure that there are no delays that would prevent its timely implementation. ###
