The Ballad of the distance swimmer By: Eric Fuhs

O that one swimmer, That works their hardest to become a winner, But for you my friend, Your races wont simply just end, For you are different from the others, The opposite of your brother, For your races wont be short and sweet, You will be sore in your body including your feet, For you are a distance swimmer, It takes more yardage to become a winner.

You swim double, triple, even quadruple the rest, Yet it is somewhat easier to drop for the time labeled your best, With each personal best pride you gain, But to get there takes unexplainable amounts of pain, The pain you deal with is superior that any other amounted, What lap am I on for I have not counted? Because after one length is done, You realize theres many many, many, more to come, For those lengths cast spells of pain like a witch, But when defeated makes you crave a plethora of the different types of the common sandwich,

O that one fellow, Who when came to practice didnt say hello, Who just got in the pool which is quite common, And started to swim laps repeatedly oh so vey solemn,
