Recorder Lesson - 5th Grade - 12/5/12 PREP: Finger one of the notes (e.g. D).

Have the students figure out which note it is by the fingering. Repeat for several different notes (focus on F#, C, E, D1). SEQUENCE: Review Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead. Review Scotlands Burning. Go over B, A, G on the staff. Show just those notes on the staff with the posters. Have students practice playing those notes by using the posters (place the posters in different orders). Have students place the posters in any order that they want and then have the rest of the class play those notes. CLOSING: Divide the students into two teams. Have the student in the front of each team take a turn to play the note on one of the posters. If the student plays the correct note, he or she will gain a point for his or her team. After that students turn, he or she goes to the back of the line and the next student has his or her turn. The team with the most points wins.
