in East Africa (ASaLTEA) are proud to host The 5th East African Conference on Communication Disability in the sunny coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya from the 2nd-5th September 2013. This conference aims to bring together professionals who work with people with communication and swallowing difficulties to share knowledge and skills, build supportive relationships and present new and exciting research from across the African continent so as to offer a sustainable future for speech and language therapy practice in East Africa.
Agenda
Day Monday 02/09/13 Theme Research, Reflect, Review Presentations will focus on research into the needs of persons with communication disabilities. They provide opportunities to reflect on and review current SLT knowledge and practice. Intervention, Interaction, Inclusion Presentations and workshops will focus on current paediatric and adult intervention techniques that promote interaction and inclusion. Teachers are encouraged to attend this day. Share, Support, Sustain 1 Lightening talks from persons with / carers of persons with disabilities. Other presentations will focus on implementing services and practices that are sustainable. Share, Support, Sustain 2 Presentations and workshops will focus on the aspects that contribute to sustainability. This will lead towards the development of a model of sustainable SLT delivery for East Africa.

*East Africans- Citizens of or individuals working in: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Proof of citizenship/ employment will be required* **Student ID will be required**
