Decide Upon Audience (classroom learning environment, or activity system, how does this activity fit? What prior knowledge does it assume? HubVsSwitch is an activity for CCNA 1, Modules 5-8 students who are just learning the basics of networking. This is an individual activity. Basic Ethernet configuration knowledge is required. II. Decide Upon Topic (semester, module, TI; claims, evidence, task) CCNA 1, Modules 5-8 (Networking Basics). III. Decide Upon Design Pattern (modeling/inquiry concept-building problem OR pre/post lab, configuration, skill building problem OR design problem OR troubleshooting problem OR combination) The design pattern in this activity is modeling/inquiry concept-building problem. The goal is to teach students the differences between a hub-based network and a switchbased network. IV. Decide Upon Type of Assignment (from scratch, pre-existing .pkt, .pka, multistep) and Type of Guidance (none, built-in, accompanying lab handout, or .swf tutorial); from 1 .pkt you could have various .pka based on it The initial network in the .pka file is empty. The network is to be built from scratch. Instructions are included in the .pka file. A word document is also included as lab hand out. V.
