BAC RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING SHOPPING AS AN ALTERNATIVE MODE OF PROCUREMENT Resolution No. 2012-____________ WHEREAS, Sec. 48, Rule XVI of the Revised IRR of R.A. 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act provides that in order to promote economy and efficiency and obtain the most advantageous price for the government, the procuring entity may resort to any of the alternative methods of procurement which are Limited Source Bidding, Direct Contracting, Repeat Order, Shopping and Negotiated Procurement; WHEREAS, Sec. 52 provides further that SHOPPING covers procurement of readily available offthe-shelf goods or ordinary/regular equipment to be procured directly from suppliers of known qualifications where the procuring entity simply requests for the submission of price quotations from at least three (3) bona fide suppliers, in any of the following cases; a) When there is unforeseen contingency requiring immediate purchase not exceeding Php100,000.00; b) Procurement of ordinary or regular office and equipment not available in the DBM Procurement Service in an amount not exceeding Php 500,000.00, including supplies, commodities, or materials which are necessary in the transaction of official business and consumed in day-to-day operations of the procuring entity; WHEREAS, upon review of the attached Purchase Request No. __________________ dated ____________________ indicating the item/s that is/are included in the current APP/Sector PPMP, it was determined that the appropriate mode of procurement is shopping; NOW, THEREFORE, in the light of the foregoing considerations, we the members of the University Bids and Awards Committee do hereby recommend to the University President, Dr. Ben D.
