Dear Ms. Carr
On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of Los Angeles City College (LACC).1
would like to invite you to a meeting regarding the future plans for the Northeast
Campus on April 27, 2009 at 6pm. ‘The meeting will take place at Los Angeles City
College's MLK Library, located at 855 N. Vermont, Los Angeles,
As you may know, LACC is in the final stages of construction of a satelite campus
con the site of the former historic Van de Kamp Bakery located in the Highland Park
Community of Los Angeles. The campus entails rehabilitation of the 30,000 square
foot historic building to be used for classroom and administration activities and a
second building under construction that will also be used for classroom,
administration, and faculty
During the spring semester of 2009 LACC turned over operations of the site, also
known as the Northeast Campus to the Los Angeles Community College District
(LACCD) to provide educational programs. The Chancellor of the LACD, in
conjunction with the President of LAC will host the meeting for the community to
provide information on the educational plan for the Northeast Campus.
With limited financial resources and the need to ensure the Northeast Campus site
would open, the college made a decision to turn over the Northeast Campus to the
district office for the next five years. We are excited to share with you the
educational plan for this site. We look forward to seeing you on April 27",
