A Granny Smith apple is hard, has light green skin and a solid yet juicy flesh. Granny Smith apples go from being yellow to green. Apart from the physical change, the acidity lowers significantly, and it gains a sweeter balance to its taste.
Before planting a sapling, you must first designate an area that receives a minimum of six hours of sunlight every day. When choosing a sapling, choose a Granny Smith sapling that is about one year old and 6 feet tall for optimal growth.
When preparing to plant the sapling, leave to soak the root ball in water for approximately 30 minutes to soften the roots and soil. Once planted the tree needs little watering and should only be watered sparingly.

Granny Smith apples are a viable source of fiber Soluble fiber is proven to lower cholesterol, control weight, and regulate blood sugar. Granny Smith apples also contain vitamins A and C.
Granny Smith apples originated in Australia in 1868 Mary Ann Granny Smith found a sapling growing in her backyard garden. Grannie Smith eventually took to market. Eventually growers in Washington began growing these apples commercially in the 1960s. Today, Granny Smith is one of the most well-known apple varieties available.
Ingredients! -12 Granny Smith Apples -1 cup walnuts -1 Cup dried Cranberries -Honey
Steps! Preheat your oven to 350. Core your apples a little more than three quarters of the way. You want a little bit left at the bottom to hold in your ingredients. Combine walnuts with dried cranberries. (You can use any dried fruit but I've found cranberries to taste the best). Fill each apple with mixture, place in baking dish, and drizzle with a tbsp or so of honey. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.Enjoy!!
