BABE RUTH
"I SWING BIG, WITH EVERYTHING I'VE GOT. I HIT BIG OR I MISS BIG. I LIKE TO LIVE AS BIG AS I CAN." - George Herman Babe Ruth, Jr. On February 6th 1895, George Herman Ruth Jr. was born. He grew up at St. Marys Industrial School, a strict school in Baltimore, MD, just for boys. While attending this school, he became interested in sports, but mostly baseball. During his free time at the school he would be playing baseball. At this school he met a monk names Brother Matthias. George looked up to Matthias as a fatherly gure. Brother Matthias knew george was a natural when he saw him play. He discusses with the other brothers and suggested bringing the owner of the

Baltimore Orioles, Jack Dunn, to the school to watch him play. Dunn knew he had a real talent and offered him a contract in 1914. After getting to know they players, they started to call Jacks newest babe, therefor it stuck. Babe played outeld for the Orioles, and then was put on a leading sale to the Boston Red Sox. With Boston, he had played pitcher. His ERA was at a 2.01 when he was sold to the New York Yankees in

1919. With them, he became an full-time outelder. During this year, he made a record of 54 home runs. He was denitely one of the greatest players in history. Georges seasons ended on June 13, 1948 with an amazing record in baseball history. He had hit a total of 714 home runs. He made it to the Baseball Hall of Fame. On August 16, 1948, Babe lost his ght with cancer. All fans of baseball will always remember #3.
