    US ROUTE 11 IN CANTON CLOSING FOR RAIL CROSSING REPLACEMENT, ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today advises motorists that US Route 11 in Canton will be closed for a period of six weeks as part of the Canton Village Reconstruction Project on or about July 1. The closure is necessary to replace the rail crossing on Route 11 and during this time motorists will be required to use the established detour. The detour begins at Riverside Drive, continues to State Street and State Route 310, returning motorist to US Route 11. Provisions will be made for local traffic to access the downtown business district, as well as providing access to local streets and message boards will be deployed in advance of the closure alerting motorists of the upcoming change in traffic patterns. ###
