Localforce Vietcong TOE

The source material used to derive this Battlefront TOE was from several sources. Squads were used at a 1-1 ratio while crew served LMG/HMG/Mortars were used at a 2 to1 ratio as stated in the BF rulebook This Vietcong TOE contains the LocalforceVC organization and covers the period 1961 to 1968. Each Localforce VC Regiment contained 2-3 VC battalions. Local Force Vietcong were mainly farmers by day and guerrillas by night. They protected hamlets containing arms caches and logistical supplies used by the Mainforce VC and NVA units operating in South Vietnam. Typically, they were not as well equipped and their discipline varied by province. Their TOE varied greatly by what was available, some units using old WW2 weapons mixed with an assortment of modern weaponry. A basic Battalion TOE for a Local Force Vietcong unit in Battlefront more or less follows this outline: 2-3x Localforce Vietcong Battalions per Regiment, each with: 1 Bn. Cmd (card# VNVC01) (Note A) 3 Infantry Companies, each with: 1x Company Cmd. (card# VNVC01) 9x Infantry. (card# VNVC02, VNVC03) 1x 57mm RCL (or) equip 3 of the 9 infantry with RPG2 from 1965+. (card# VNVC07 or VNVC03) (Note C applies to the RCL.) 1 Support Company: 1x Company Cmd. (card# VNVC01) 3x HMG (card# VNVC 05) 1x 60mm Mortar. (card# VNVC06) (Note B) 1 Recon Squad: 1x Scout. (card# VNVC02, VNVC03) 0-1 Sapper Squad. 1x Sapper. (card# VNVC02, VNVC03) Notes: A) No Radios. B) Mortars should direct observe targets. C) May Transport equipment with Bikes (card# GN01) or Pack Mules (card# GN02)
