How do you know if you can trust a sources?

Think about when the source was produced, is it

Think about type of source it is. Is it from a newspaper or is it from a history book? Is it a type of of time?

Think about who produced the source. Was the source produced by someone who supported the idea or person in the sources ? Was the source produced by someone who was against The idea or person in the source?

Think about why the source was produced. Was the source written to make out the person was bad and a villain? Was the source written to make the person appear to be good and a hero?

Who produced the source? Can you trust What kind of source is it? the person who Where was it produced? wrote the source When was it produced? and their reasons? Why was it produced?

A fact is something that you know is definitely true e.g. Cromwell won the English Civil War. An opinion is what someone thinks so it may not be true e.g. Cromwell was a brave and skilful leader.

Some sources contain facts whilst other sources are based on opinions. Sources by historians usually contain both.
