Housekeeping Operations Lec Lab
COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course deals with the study of the tasks performed by the housekeeping department. It also deals with the different standard procedures in cleaning, room inventory, and materials & equipment used in the hospitality industry. CREDIT PRE-REQUISITE : 2 units (2hrs lecture/week) : Principles of Tourism, Principles of Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation in the Hospitality Industry
GENERAL OBJECTIVES : To study the task performed in the Housekeeping Department. To learn the different standards in cleaning procedure, bathroom cleaning, carpet shampooing and bed making, chemicals and materials used and perform actual room Inventory in all hospitality establishments. A. COGNITIVE : Learn the common terms used in the housekeeping department that are relevant to hotel operations. To recognize the different methods of calculating room rates and determine occupancy using room inventories. : Recognize the role of systematic planning in solving problem that may rise in the housekeeping department

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES Explain the role of the Housekeeping Department. Explain and Discuss the significance of the Housekeeping Department in the over-all Hotel Operation & Management. GRADING SYSTEM
: The final grade for the course is based on the average of the prelim, midterm and final periodical grades. Periodical grades is computed as the sum of 2/3 of the class standing and 1/3 of the periodical exam. Class standing is broken down as follows: 50% for Quizzes, 20% for Recitation,10% for Projects, 20% for Research/Homework.
