How to enable MAC to copy to NTFS external disk

Estimated time: approx. time is 0.5 hr. Preparation:


1. MAC OS X. 2. Admin password for authorized MAC user. 3. External NTFS hard disk.

Step by Step:
1. Connect the External HD (NTFS formatted) to the MAC machine. 2. Open the MAC disk Utility and copy the Universal Unique Identifier (right clicking under the disk info) of the external disk to text editor or just to the clipboard. 3. ** Open the Terminal app. of the Mac. and type: sudo nano /etc/fstab Enter your Password: ****** UUID=################ none ntfs rw

**Note: ################ refers to the Universal Unique Identifier copied on step 2.

4. Press Ctrl X 5. To Accept Press (Y) 6. Press Enter. 7. Type Exit. 8. Now Go to the Disk Utility again and dismount and mount the disk. After that you should be able to copy and paste from Mac to an NTFS disk.
