ay i t g ca thy lun ^^) Many of my students have asked me the best strategy for approaching the reading portion of the IELTS exam. The biggest thing to keep in mind is time management. You will likely not have time to read all 3 passages as carefully as you would like. Knowing this, you must gather as much information about the passages as quickly as you can. Here is what I recommend when beginning the IELTS reading section... 1. Read any titles or headings the passage may have to get an idea of the topic. 2. Look over the questions quickly. Underline keywords that stand out; you can use them to find their location in the passage. 3. Scan the reading and keep an eye out for the keywords related to the questions. 4. Once you have narrowed down the location, read the that portion of the passage and mark your best guess. 5. Once you have marked answers for all the questions, check your time. If you have time left and you are not confident with your answers, take the time to go back and read more carefully. Reading obviously involves a lot of vocabulary, and sometimes you won't recognize certain words. If a difficult vocab word is part of the question you must answer, don't panic! Think about the topic of the article and the author's intentions. Think about the paragraph the word is in and what the paragraph is trying to explain. In the end, you might be forced to guess, but with a little analysis, you can make it an educated guess. Chia s 5 pht trc
