    SEIU Local 200United supports this bill which amends the Tax Law with regard to the operations of certain video lottery terminal racinos in the area affected by the recent agreement between the state and the Seneca Nation. We represent unionized workers at existing racetrack and video lottery gaming facilities in Batavia and Farmington, often called racinos. The recent agreement with the Seneca Nation will have a negative impact on the existing racinos in the following ways: The racinos will have to alter their advertising to remove any term like casino or slot machine. The racinos will be required to remove certain of the VLT machines currently in use including some of the most popular games. The racinos will be prohibited from any future expansion to electronic table games This bill would help protect the jobs of workers at the existing racinos by reimbursing the racinos for costs associated with the changes required by the Seneca Nation agreement and by giving them improved vendor fees, capital allowances and free play allowances. The goal is to keep the racinos viable, providing revenue to the state and local communities and to prevent the loss of jobs that might otherwise occur.
