Student Teaching in Cagayan de Oro City National High School

Cagayan de Oro City National High School, popularly known as City High is a small campus with large student population. They have facilities like covered court, principals office, library, computer room, and canteen. Later on I realized they have no room for the faculty. Most teachers are staying inside the classroom with their tables and chairs arranged in a cubicle either at the sides or at the back. The students population is very big that is why they have double session, a morning session which starts at 6:30 am, and night session which starts at 12:00 noon. Most of the students come from poor families residing near the school. Later on, I found out that most students have no books, paper or pen. Its so sad knowing the situation theyre in. The teachers are friendly and accommodating for they smile when greeted. My cooperating teacher is Mrs. Cerna M. Nagac, a mild mannered teacher in her 50s and she teaches effectively. Shes very nice and very observant. She made constructive suggestions to improve my craft. She really made me feel what a meaningful student teaching is.
