D.O, F.O, L.O PURIFIER CAN HAVE PROBLEM i.e. IF ITS SHOWING THE ALARM OF PT4 HIGH BACK PRESSURE i.e. ITS LOWER DISTRIBUTOR RING IS DAMAGED. IF D.O, F.O, L.O PURIFIERS DROPING BACK PRESSURE PT4(BACK PRESSURE LOW ALARM) OR IF AT STARTING AND DESLUDGE TIME PT4 NOT INCREASING AND GIVING LOW PT4 ALARM CHECK RECTANGULAR RING (REF. NO 10) PROPERLY AND CHECK THAT LOWER DISTRIBUTER RING AND OPERATING SLIDE ARE IN PROPER CONTACT. ALL PURIFIERS SUMP OIL IS CHANGED; YOU NEED TO CHANGE AFTER 1500 HRS OR ONCE A YEAR. (YOU CAN SEE THE RUNNING HOURS FOLDER IN 4TH ENGR FOLDER) MAIN AIR COMPRESSOR LUB OIL TO CHANGE EACH MONTH, ALTHOUGH ITS ROUTINE IS OF 2000 HRS. AIR HANDLING UNITS NEED TO BE CHECKED ATLEAST 2 TIMES IN A WATCH COZ ITS BOTTOM FILLS WITH CONDENSATE WATER, SO DRAIN IT EVERY TIME WHEN YOU CHE... THE INTERMEDIATE VALVE BETWEEN THE D.O STORAGE TANKS IS LEAKY, SO IF YOU WANT TO ISOLATE ONE PARTICULAR TANK YOU NEED TO CLOSE THE RESPECTIVE TANK QUICK CLOSING VALVE. A/E NO.3 HAVE THE PROBLEM OF HUNTING SO KEEP A SHARP EYE ON THE FREQUENCY OF BOTH A/ES IF ITS FLUCTUATING CHANGE THE RUNNING GENERATOR BY STANDBY GENERATOR. MAIN AIR COMPRESSOR, DECK AIR COMPRESSOR INDUCTION FILTERS CLEAN ONCE A MONTH. ALL PURIFIERS FLAT BELT TENSION, OPERATING WATER LINE FILTER, FOUNDATION BOLTS TO CHECK ONCE A MONTH. WHILE RECEIVING FRESH WATER FROM WATER BARGE KEEP FW DAILY PUMP OFF OR KEEP OBSERVING,IT SHOULD NOT RUN CONTINOUSLY.IF IT IS SO,STOP THE PUMP UNTILL FW RECEIVING IS FINISHED.WHEN RESTARTING THE PUMP PURGE THE AIR FROM SYSTEM.

YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE FILTERS TO D.O TRANSFER PUMP SUCTION, TO PURIFIER FEED PUMP SUCTION AND THAT OF FEED & CIRCULATING PUMP / MONTH OR ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN CALCULATIONS. TRY TO RUN THE L.O PURIFIER WHEN THE M/E IS RUNNING OR HAS JUST/NEARLY STOPPED INORDER TO ATTAIN THE REQUIRED TEMPERATURE, OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT BE SHORT UPTO 20-25 DEGREE CELSIUS. AT THE END OF WATCH WHEN YOU ARE TO SUBMITT LOG ABSTRACT AND RUNNING HOURS OF M/E & COPS (NOON-NOON) ALSO WRITE DOWN THE SOUNDINGS IN THE REGISTER AND CALCULATE THE METRIC TONS. (CURRENT DENSITY OF DO = 0.8375) CHECK YOUR PMS JOBS IN ECR COMPUTER AND WRITE IT IN JNR/4TH ENGRS COLUMN AND DO IT, ALSO CHECK CHIEF ENGRS AND WRITE IT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COLUMNS.. DUTY ENGINEEER HAVE TO PROVIDE THE BUNKER REPORT TO CCR WHENEVER YOU GET ALONGSIDE FOR ANY CARGO OPERATION i.e. LOADING OR DISCHARGING, YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE SOUNDINGS OF D.O SERVICE 1 & SERVICE 2 TANKS AND THE REST OF SOUNDINGS WILL REMAIN THE SAME AS RECORDED IN THE D.O ROB REGISTER UNTILL YOU ARE NOT RUNNING THE D.O PURIFIER OR TRANSFERRING THE D.O FROM BUNKER TANKS (1P & 1S) TO SETTLING. FOR THE TRANSFER OF D.O. TO SETTLING FROM (1P & 1S), THE LINE UP IS NORMALLY MADE, BUT AGAIN YOU NEED TO HAVE A CHECK ON THE VALVES. TOTAL NUMBER OF V/VS FOR TRANSFER ARE EIGHT(8), i.e. 1P Q/C V/V, 1S Q/C V/V, INTERMEDIATE V/V BETWEEN 1P&1S, V/V WITH THE FILTER SUCTION, V/V TO PUMP SUCTION, V/V TO PUMP DISCHARGE, V/V IN THE DISCHARGE LINE TO SETTLING AND THE V/V TO THE TANK WHILE TRANSFERRING TO THE SETTLING TANK, MAKE SURE THE V/V TO THE EMERGENCY GENERATOR D.O TANK LINE IS CLOSED. (YOU CAN ALSO TRANSFER D.O TO EMERGENCY GENERATOR D.O TANK USING THE TRANSFER PUMP) FOR THE LINE UP OF TAKING BUNKER THERE ARE FIVE (5) VALVES TO BE OPENED, 4 V/VS IN E/R & 1 V/V ON DECK @ MANIFOLD. THE 4 V/VS IN E/R ARE: 1= 1P, 2=1S, 3=INTERMEDIATE V/V, 4=BUTTERFLY V/V AND THE 5TH ONE IS @

MANIFOLD. IT WILL BE WISE TO CLOSE THE V/V TO D.O TRANSFER P/P SUCTION FILTER. WHEN TAKING BUNKER FROM THE SAME SHIPS TANK YOU NEED TO GIVE THE POWER OF TANK CLEANING PUMP (CONTROL PANEL NEAR EMERGENCY EXIT, PORT SIDE). WHILE IN CARGO OPERATION OR MANOEUVRING WHEN AUX. ENGINE # 3 IS IN PARALLEL WITH ANYOTHER AUX. ENGINE TRY NOT TO MAINTAIN THE KVAR FROM AUX. ENGINE # 3. (ITS KNOB IS TOO SENSITIVE TO TOUCH) FOR KVAR ADJUSTMENT, AUX. ENGINE # 1 & 2 HAVE REVERSED ADJUSTMENT i.e. ACTUAL INCREASE LEADS TO DECREASING STATE & VICE VERSA. WHENSOEVER YOU FEEL LIKE TRANSFERRING THE DO TO SETTLING TANK, 1ST RECORD THE INITIAL SOUNDING OF DO SETTLING & BUNKER TANKS, AFTER TRANSFER TAKE THE SOUNDINGS AGAIN AND CALCULATE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL OIL RECEIVED IN SETTLING, RECORD IT EVERYTIME. AFTER EVERY TRANSFER PROVIDE CH. ENGR WITH THE DO ROB. FOR THE LUB OIL TANKS, AUX. ENG / M.E , THE SOUNDING TABLE DIFFERS FROM THE CALIBRATED SOUNDING STRIP ON EACH TANK, BETTER NOT TO CONSULT THE SOUNDING TABLE WHILE TAKING THE LUB OIL BUNKER. THE PURIFIER & COMPRESSOR SPARES ARE AFT-STORE RESPECTIVELY. AT THE END OF MONTH YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ESSENTIAL MACHINERIES PHOTOS AND TO MARK THEM WITH PROPER SERIAL NUMBERS, YOU CAN HAVE A CHECK ON THE PREVIOUS PHOTOS FOLDER. (TRY TO MAKE A FOLDER BY NAME OF MONTH AND YEAR OF ALL MARKED PHOTOS) AND AFTER GIVE TO THE CADET BY ANY OF USB AND ALWAYS KEEP A BACK-UP WITH YOU. BOW THRUSTER RUNNING TIME HAS TO BE MAINTAINED IN THE FOLDER BY THE NAME OF PAPERS FOR ENGINE ROOM ON DESKTOP.

YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAINTAIN PLANNED MANTENANCE SYSTEM FILE KEPT IN ECR AND ALSO WILL HAVE TO RECORD THE AIR PRESSURE OF RESERVOIR FOR QUICK CLOSING VALVES AND SIGN IT.
