Developing front-end, formative and summative evaluation

strategies, surveys and guiding techniques for the

Maskerad/Masked exhibit , while documenting every stage, was no
small challenge.
Communicating their plan to the Deputy Program Manager, they
then created a survey in collaboration with the Interpretation team
that set the entire exhibition theme in motion.
Going straight to one of the exhibition’s target groups, young
children and their parents, they showed pictures of the masks and
asked them what appealed to them about these images.
Posing questions to the other target groups, young adults 30-
under, the team was able to learn directly from the Gothenburg
public what they wanted to see at their museum.
Even with limited Swedish the team was able to reach their target
groups, mainly in English, with open and patient questions.
Now undertaking formative and summative evaluation,
documenting every aspect of the exhibition process, and reporting
to the class the progress of their efforts, their work will be what
remains of the Maskerad/Masked exhibit long after the physical
exhibit has been taken down.
