LESSON DEVELOPMENT STEPS PROCEDURES TEACHERS REFERENCES

Set Induction

1. Teacher shows 3 objects of different area. 2. Ask the pupils to compare the surface area. 1. Ask the pupils to state the number of rectangles in each figure. 2. State which figure has the biggest area. 1. Pupils guess the number of squares that fix the figure. 2. Pupils confirm their guesses by filling the 4 cm X 4 cm square and 2 cm X 8 cm rectangle with 1 cm X 1 cm card and count the number of 1 cm X 1cm card used. 1. Pupils compare the objects of different shapes: a. Square ( 4 cm X 4 cm.) b. Rectangle ( 2 cm X 8 cm) 2. Pupils guess which object has bigger area. 3. Teacher explains how to calculate the area 4. Pupils calculate the area of any given square and rectangle in metric unit. Refer to worksheet M18/WS2
