complete the lessons, however, if after twelve months there is no activity the student record will be deleted from our computer system. As enrollments are received each student is given a student number. This number will be found on the lower left side of the test sheet. Please use this number whenever you write about the course - whether it is to ask about lessons delayed in the mail, inquiries about some point of doctrine, an address change or whatever the reason. To avoid misunderstandings, it may be well to emphasize the following points: 1. The purpose of the course is to provide some basic information about the Catholic faith. The course explains, it does not argue. It confines itself to the more important matters and does not pretend to be an advanced or complete course in Catholic theology. It provides a start for Catholics who wish to review Church teaching, and for non-Catholics who wish to learn something about the Catholic Church. 2. The purpose of the questionnaires sent with each lesson is to aid the reader to absorb what the lesson contains. Correct answers to the questionnaire, therefore, signify only that the reader has understood what the text says. In requiring one answer rather than another, we wish only to satisfy ourselves that the reader understands what is said in the lesson. We have no intention of forcing one to say what he does not believe. One's faith is something quite apart from the questionnaire, and we in no way intend to interfere with the reader's conscience. (We will have occasion to repeat this as the course progresses.) 3. We consider the answering of the questionnaires and the resultant interchange between the student and ourselves to be essential to the course. 4. There is no charge for the course. All correspondence is confidential. Lessons are mailed in a plain envelope which only carries our PO Box number. No one will call. Thank you for your interest. FREE Catholic Booklets, titles change monthly, come back often for new updates. - Free Shipping. http://www.catholic.org/kofc/ Why does CIS give away free booklets? Since its inception in 1948, CIS has been spreading the good news about Jesus and His Church by giving away Catholic information to anyone interested. Back then, the main goal was to dispel the ignorance that frequently fuelled anti-Catholic sentiment. Today, CIS continues to pursue its mission of evangelization by making it easy to get trustworthy Catholic information. What's the catch? There is no catch. We will not use your name or information for any other purpose than to send you free booklets, and we will send you only the booklets you request, and an order form listing all of our booklets (there are more than 60!). For those who wish to order larger quantities of booklets to stock literature racks or to use in discussion groups and classes, we ask for help in defraying shipping costs.

Free Online Courses http://www.kofc.org/un/eb/en/publications/cis/courses/index.html Two instructional courses about the Catholic faith are available. Each uses text from printed booklets in the Hart and Veritas series. A required login aids in tracking test results and keeps a user's place in the course upon return visits. The same login can be used for both courses. The Luke E. Hart Series Online Course This series is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It answers the questions: What does a Catholic believe? How does a Catholic worship? How does a Catholic live? If you are searching for God and the meaning of life, or would like to strengthen your faith, the Knights of Columbus offers for home study a series of 30 booklets, the Luke E. Hart Series, providing a comprehensive and basic overview of Catholic belief and practice. Each of the 30 booklets offers a colloquial and contemporary expression of the content of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The series follows the basic teaching of the Catechism, and seeks to make its contents more accessible, not to substitute for it. The booklets are at times poetic, colloquial, playful, and imaginative; at all times, they are faithful to the Faith. CIS Faith Formation Online Course (Based on the Veritas Series) This course offers accurate information about the Church's faith, practices and devotions. We are searching for truth (Veritas), the truth of our faith handed down through the centuries from the Lord to the apostles and to succeeding generations of Christians. Like the booklet series on the Catechism, this series is neither the first nor the last word on these matters of faith. The point is to give basic, reasonable and verifiable information by which we live our lives according to God's plan for us.

Catholic Prayers and Devotions The human heart is drawn to the divine. Many people have a sincere longing for holiness and that is why they spend time in contemplation. We are encouraged to cultivate a profound inner life, contact with Jesus Christ that is both personal and constant. The Fathers of the Church have consistently said that without true friendship with Jesus, it is impossible for a Christian, to fulfill the mission of the Lord.
