Beforeanymajorworkcanbeginatjunction21thecontractorshave tocarryoutaprocesscalleddestructivesearching.Thisinvolvesusing diggerstomoveeartharoundwhilelookingforreptiles.Ifanyare foundtheyaresafelyrelocated.Thesiteofficealsohadtobebuilt beforeworkcangetfullyunderway,startingwiththeinsideofthe motorwayroundabout. ConstructioniswellunderwayatMarchfieldsWay,withexcavationof theareathatwillbethenewroundabout.Thekerbingsurrounding therighthandturnontoWinterstokeRoadwasremovedlastweek andtheturnwillbeclosedfromFriday.Thosewantingtoturnright willneedtousetheDroveRoadroundabout. WorleParkwayhasbeenexcavatedandhadnewdrainageadded.The siteiscurrentlybeinglevelled. ElmhamWayhasmostlyfocusedondivertingservices,suchas electricitycablesandgaspipes. CrewshavebeenabletoslightlychangetheplansatQueensway.By raisingthegroundlevelslightlytheyhavebeenabletoavoidrerouting somemajorservices.

Thefirstroadclosureforthe WestonPackageworkwill happenovernighton11May. Itwillseethedualcarriageway fromthemotorwayroundabout totheWestWick(Morrisons) Roundaboutshutheadinginto townfrom11pm5am. Thediversionroute,whichuses onlymainroads,goesthrough Congresbury,Langford, ChurchillandBanwellandwill besignposted. Theclosureisforsafetyas contractorswillberemoving theoverheadgantrythatgoes acrosstheroadandholdsthe signsthattelldriverswhichlane theyneed. Astheroadwillbewidenedas partofWestonPackage,witha newlaneadded,thisoldgantry willbetoosmallandhastobe takenawaybeforeworkcan start.Temporarysignswillbe putup.
