The Arson Bomb Squad reports the details of an arrest for Arson that occurred on July 4, 2013 starting at 5:00 A.M. in West Hempstead. According to detectives, Fourth Precinct officers responded to four separate garbage fires: 525 Hempstead Turnpike at 5:00 A.M., 346 Hempstead Turnpike at 5:15 A.M., 543A Hempstead Turnpike at 5:30 A.M. and 621 Hempstead Turnpike at 5:50 A.M. After an investigation it was discovered that the defendant Emmanuel Borg, 24, of 224-11 92nd Avenue, Queens had set fire to the above listed dumpsters. At the final location of 621 Hempstead Turnpike, the defendant took a bundle of newspapers in front of CVS and set fire to the dumpster belonging to the store. The defendant resisted arrest by kicking his legs, feet and refusing to be handcuffed. Officers were able to gain control of the defendant and place him under arrest. The defendant is being charged with Arson 4th Degree, 3 counts of Arson 5th Degree, Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on July 5, 2013 at First District Court, Hempstead.
