Hon David Crisafulli MP Minister for Local Government, Community Recovery

and Resilience

PO Box 15031 BRISBANE QLD 4002 CC Adrian Bloomfield Dear Minister I am writing on behalf of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and following instructions from President Cr Margaret de Wit, to request the Queensland Government to amend the Local Government regulation section 245(2), most particularly the nexus between State Parliamentarians remuneration and that of non-Brisbane City Council Queensland Local Government elected members. We have taken this extraordinary step in light of the serious concerns in the community and mindful of maintaining the community support for our sphere of government. Moreover, we have taken this action at very short notice and without fully consulting our membership. Nonetheless our position is clear. We seek the nexus between state politicians and our members be broken and that a new formula to be discussed over the coming months be put in place prior to the remuneration and Disciplinary Tribunals December determination of remuneration levels for the following year. This request comes immediately after receipt of legal advice by the Association and with an understanding that the Remuneration Tribunal is intending to make a decision in the coming days and have the matter gazetted by the end of the week. Please do not hesitate to contact either myself on 0428 987 102 or President Cr de Wit 0418 750 747 if you wish to further discuss this matter. Yours sincerely

Greg Hallam PSM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
