What influenced you to read or not read as a child? What influenced me to read Illustrations Beautiful, colorful and interesting illustrations, pictures and painting are able to stimulate my interest and curiosity to read (especially the cover/jacket of the storybook). Language usage Simple and short sentences are easier to create understanding. What influenced me not to read Illustrations Poor and not attractive illustration.

Language usage Complex and long sentences do not stimulate childrens interest to read. Plot Bored and plain storyline are not suitable for children.

Plot Interesting and wonderful storyline help to promote my reading hobbit. Classroom environment Available different genres of childrens literature in the classroom help to exhibit reading desires among the children/ setting up reading corner in the classroom. School culture A good reading culture should be inculcated in the school compound. Library Provision of different types of reading materials.
