Term Three sport will consist of a rotation of different PSSA sports to give the students experience in a variety of sports. Each will be given a week on each sport and then allowed to choose their favourites to revisit for the rest of the term.

GSS3.8 Applies movement skills in games and sports that require communication, cooperation, decision making and observation of the rules. V5 willingly participates in regular physical activity

Practice the following skills in a rotation of activities.


Base Running Explain the idea behind base running (getting to the base as fast as possible). Practice Base Running using the Gimme 5 drill. Hitting Explain and demonstrate how to hold the bat and hit the ball. Students practice trying to make contact with the ball from a short distance. Gradually increase the distance. Pitching Explain and demonstrate how to pitch the ball. Talk about the no ball zone. Students practice pitching the ball towards a tee. When accuracy is improving, students can practice pitching towards another student with a bat. Use Walk and Pitch to practice pitching. Throwing and Catching Practice throwing and catching without the glove to begin. Progressively get further apart. Add the glove once children are comfortable with catching the ball without the glove. Practice a variety of throws and catches high, low including trapping a rolling ball. Practice with the Spell Your Name drill. Play the game Explain the rules of the game and then allow the students to play a game with directions.
