#14 The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights was added as a compromise to Articles of Confederation to appease the Federalists who believed the Articles did not strongly protect the rights of the people. The focus of the Bill of Rights was to ensure the power of the common man or the individuals and states. It was generally accepted amongst the people as a way of protecting their rights and freedoms such as freedom of speech the right to bear arms. It also protected rights inspired by the American Revolution such as the 3rd amendment which forbade the quartering of soldiers in civilian houses while not in a time of war.
