THE BEATLES John Lennon, the first member of the band was born in 1940 in Liverpool, England, where

he lived. As a teenager, he met Paul McCartney, and they began to write songs together. After several years they formed the group called The Beatles. Ringo Starr joined the group some years later. In 1964 the group released its first hit song Love me do. Between 1962 and 1968 The Beatles was the most famous group in the world. In 1969 John Lennon wanted to perform alone. He recorded Give peace a chance and sang several albums alone. He also performed in films. On 8th December 1980, John Lennon was shot and killed outside his New York apartment by a deranged fan.
