At time of writing the Dec '13 EUA Contract was at 4.09. The climate change debate has hit fever pitch. The US are set to declare their climate policy through an Obama speech today . Many observers have indicated that new policy will mean existing power stations will have to adhere to new emission regulations. Feedback about the backloading issue is more favourable than it has been. However , be aware that the European's people's party are still at odds and have declared that they will vote tomorrow on their stance but will not declare a position before the pleanary vote on July 2. They are the largest party in the European Parliament and have the strenght to veto any vote in the parliament. At the recent G8 meeting in Northern Ireland, leaders committed to ensuring that a new protocol is agreed with legal force applicable to all parties and adopted by 2015, to be implemented by 2020. We also note with grave concern the gap between current country pledges and what is needed, and will work towards increasing mitigation ambition in the period to 2020, a G8 statement added. The UK have suggested that a 50% emission reduction target for 2030 should be adopted.
