Teaching Philosophy
As a facilitator of learning, I believe the teacher sets the classroom conducive to learning, just as a skilled director sets the stage for a production. The atmosphere is excitement of exploration and the hope for personal discovery. The teacher applies their instructional skills in this production. Skilled in content knowledge, logical curriculum, learner pedagogy, availability of resources, assessment tools, and motivational instructional tools, the teacher teaches a skill in a carefully orchestrated lesson. Knowing the abilities and learning styles of the students, lessons are designed for effectiveness. Objective 1: Students have the right to learn information literacy skills to become independent information seekers. As citizens of the digital age, learners must be able to identify the need for information and have the opportunity to learn to locate, evaluate, and use the information ethically and legally. Objective 2: Students have the right to use current technologies in their education. In our digital environment, students must have access to the most current technologies available in order to compete with the world. Objective 3: Students have the right to participate in active learning. Students must be provided opportunities to be responsible for their participation in student-centered activities with real life learning scenarios. Objective 4: Students right to collaborate with their peers. Students must be able to interact with their peer to further ideas in a real-life or digital environment. Classroom learning is a highly designed sequence of instructional blocks designed for students to deeper understanding or learning of a new skill. Ideas are constructed off of prior knowledge, connecting them to new content in a new environment. Learning opportunities are only limited by the creativity of the teacher and of the learner. Our digital learning environment allows for a limitless learning stage. It is an honor to be a teacher playing a role to student learning. I grow as I see confidence rise from success. I bloom as I witness their achievements.
