Schedule for 8th Semester B.E Technical Seminar 2013
All the students of 8th semester are requested to submit their Technical
Seminar topics to the coordinators (mentioned below) on or before 21st March
2013 without fail. This seminar, which carries 50 marks, is compulsory for all students and has to be presented individually. While choosing the topic for the seminar, strictly adhere to following instructions: 1. The subject field of the topic should compulsorily be related to Mechanical Engineering discipline. 2. Whatever topic is chosen, related to that topic, at least 3 4 latest research papers (from reputed journals) should be referred (i.e. literature survey) and the research work carried out by various researchers (i.e. the authors of those papers) should be summarized (inference) in ones own words. 3. The following are the sample list of websites which one could refer, for doing the literature survey: a. http://www.sciencedirect.com b. http://www.elsevier.com/ c. http://www.springerlink.com/ d. http://www.jstor.org/ e. http://www.asme.org/ etc., 4. For e.g., if one has interest in Radial Flow Compressors, then, search for this topic/field in the above given websites (& other such websites too). A list of all the research work done by various people on this topic will be shown. Go through them in detail, try to understand the same & then make a summary of that paper in your own words. 5. Apart from above websites, one can go to IISC library for collecting more papers/information. 6. No fancy topics will be entertained. 7. Just a general talk/presentation on the topic will not be accepted. The seminar must & should contain the review of technical journal papers . Tentatively, the dates for presentation are scheduled between 25/03/2013 to 02/04/2013. Detailed schedule & instructions for the presentation will be put up on a later date.
