social impact: It would not be wrong to say the method adopted to take out the railways from losses

was myopic and didnt work at all. Instead of bringing out the railways from losses it further added to its miseries. People started buying their own cars for daily commutation because of lack of connectivity by railways. This made people to shell out more on automobile sector which resulted in its boom. This further cut down on the passengers.

The amount spent on road infrastructure for bus services was significantly high. Also, replacement of rail by bus lead to increased traffic and pollution.

It also isolated the rural people to an extent. People on the country sides were deprived of social facilities available in the cities since there werent any connectivity for them to the cities.

Moreover, it also reduced inter place connectivity and ultimately interaction between people of different places which resulted in reduction of exchange of values in terms of knowledge, learning, trade etc.

There were a lot of job lost since people depended on trains for lading etc. It also had an indirect impact on the hotels which were cut off due to unavailability of trains.
